FILMING IN THE UK - so much talent so many locations

February 6, 2025

January has now been and gone - its been an interesting start to the year - for January it has actually been a busy time with scouts working on shoots for both commercials and long format.  Is the industry bouyant is it going to be a bumper year one never knows but one always hopes.  There is a seasonal trend with productions going abroad for budget reasons and also for sun light during these winter months - but there is also an urge to film in the UK as the crews are so talented and the iconic UK locations are a big pull to international demand.  We have also noticed that some production companies are doing their utmost to keep productions in the UK rather than go abroad.  It feels like a burning desire in some cases - maybe even an understanding unity amongst us all.  Yes the industry boomed after covid and productions and crews swelled to exploding capacity but like any boom there is always a time when things level out.  Leveling out seems to also see alot of productions popping up across the UK where we have seen alot of demand in Manchester and Liverpool, Bristol and Cardiff and our regional scouts have been very busy.  On set there is the general chatter of AI and what this brings - one thing is for sure we are all in the same boat and whilst the AI explodes onto the scene it is important to understand and see what this brings.  Maybe like any explosion there also comes a time when things settle and one thing is for sure there will always be so much creative talent and iconic locations and that is worth treasuring and keeping.  We love scouting and we love being on set working with so many wonderful people - so here is to all of you.  In the mean time here is a totally clear Kings Cross station - normally ever so buzzing with commuters and trains - you dont need AI to create this you just need to time your application and with enough lead time you will find that you can realise your creative dream.
