To AI or not to AI

April 24, 2026

In truth I am not sure which way the film industry will go but it is obvious that there will be an AI platform.  I totally understand that the budget will dictate - it has done for many years.  I have seen the benefits of filming an actor in a studio and the background is dropped in by AI but for me the reality of a location or just daylight is paramount.  Im sure there will be AI productions and probably a new term of Human Productions.  For me I know which I would rather watch but people have different taste and I am probably old school.  It heartens me that we still listen to classical music and Synth Pop, so taste covers all areas.  Please correct me if I am wrong but I dont feel as though there is much industry movement trying to protect the livelihoods of the wonderful production people out there.  I know that we can be sued for uploading an image onto our website with out permission from the owner so HOW can AI take a pixel(s) of our images and use them with out the owners permission.  Surely this is a way of limiting AI from taking everything away from human creatives.  It's got to be an infringement - however - I get that AI is a great tool for many things and working in tandem is the best way forward for me.  AI surely helps the budget and I get it - whats the point of travelling 100s of crew to a remote location when you can do it all in a warehouse but let's hope that the youth of today yearn for the reality of life and not just fake computer generated stories.
